CHÂTEAU PÉDESCLAUX PAUILLAC 2020Wednesday, July 14, 2021CountryFranceRegionBordeauxVintage2020Score95-96This is very chewy with dusty tannins and blackberry and blueberry character. Some chocolate, too. Full and layered. Such beautiful violet and black-cherry quality at the end with some raspberries, 56% cabernet sauvignon. 34% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 5% petit verdot. First year with organic farming. A nice step-up in quality.

The medium-bodied palate quivers with vibrant, crunchy black and red berries layers, framed by firm, ripe tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing long and deliciously savory.

Juicy on the finish. Could move upwards in score after ageing.

2020 Château Pedesclaux (Pauillac) 93Dark garnet in color, the wine is all about its creme de cassis, flowers, blackberries, cigar wrapper, smoke and green forest leaf aromatics. Vibrant and silky with freshness to the fruits bringing you lift and definition. The wine finishes with a touch of cocoa, tobacco and ripe, sweet, juicy, savory currants that linger. This is clearly an estate on the rise. Give this at least 7 years of aging before pulling a cork. The wine is a blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot.2,856 Views Tasted May 20, 2021
