Soares Franco skabte 1979-2007 Barca Velha, den måske mest celebre vin i Portugal. I 2007 købte han vingård med vennen Joao Portugal Ramos, der havde tjent formue på Alentejo vin. Vingården ligger i Alto Douro, og her er intet sparet for at skabe den bedst mulige vin. Dette er en af domænets bedste vine, som skabes af de 3 bedste druer og lagrer 6 måneder i franske og amerikanske egefade. 89p/eRobertParker (Mark Squires): "...a "big three" blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, is an impressive early release, something sure to be favored by those who appreciate structure and complexity over fruit bombs. That's not to say there is no fruit here - there is plenty, and it is delicious, fragrant and lingering, redolent of plums and violets. The mid-palate concentration is on the modest side, but the wine impresses with its intenstiy and structure, sometimes seeming stem, very bright and a little austere, other times opening and expanding, seeming grapey and exuberant. ...I think this impressive early release will develop very well."
